Characters & Characterization: Protagonist & Antagonist
Rose Maxson: Protagonist
Rose Maxson is the Protagonist in this play. Rose Maxson is 43 years old, an African American female, housewife who volunteers at her church regularly and loves her family which is Troy Maxson’s wife and mother of his second child named Cory. Rose Maxson was the one that told Troy and Cory to build a fence in backyard to keep her desire loved-ones close to her.
Troy Maxson: Antagonist
Troy Maxson I think Is the Antagonist in this Play. Troy Maxson is 53 yeas old which is 10 yeas older than his wife Rose Maxson .Troy Maxson is also an African American male who works for the sanitation department in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and also has a over thirty-year friendship with fellow sanitation worker Jim Bono. Troy loved to play baseball in the Negro Leagues but his dream was to play in the Major Leagues but he was never accepted because of his skin color. Troy Maxson is a very opinionated male who speaks his mind by Troy speaking his mind he had also betrayed his loved ones.

Setting Time: Between 1957 -1965
Setting Place: Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
Plot: Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Conclusion/Resolution:
Exposition: The exposition in this play is Rose Maxson wants to build a fence in the backyard to keep her loved –ones close to her. Most importantTroy and Cory throughout the play their where conflicts that give a twits to fences. Then Cory Maxson tells his dad that he is being recruited for football, on the other hand Troy tells Troy tells Cory that he can't play football and he wants him to stop playing football and to go back to working at A&C job at the local grocery store related because he thinks that what happened to him in the past is going to happen to Cory.
Rising Action : Well the rising action in this play is when Troy is having an affair with Alberta and still being married to Rose. Then you have Cory still playing football even that has dad said no to football.
Climax: Rose is angry that after being married for 18 years he betrays there love cuz Troy told or confess to Rose that he had been having an affair with Alberta and that Alberta is having his baby.then when Troy finds out that Cory has not working at a&c that has been going to football Troy tells him to go get his job back at A&C
Falling Action: The falling action is that six months later, Troy is going over to the hospital to see Alberta who that went into an early labor. Then Rose tells Troy that Gabriel has been taken away to the asylum because Troy couldn't read the papers and signed him away. Alberta had a girl but that died during childbirth. Troy brings home his baby, Raynell. Rose takes in Raynell as her own child, but refuses to be dutiful as Troy's wife.
Literary Elements

Metaphor- it is a figure of speech that which is an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity.
